I am sorry that I will not have the opportunity to work with you in fulfilling the vision we set out to achieve.  I was looking forward to it.

Good luck and God Bless You!

DRT, my prayer is that you will have a peace in your heart about this decision. I empathize with you. In “listening” to your thoughts about this situation (here, and on JC), I hear the grief and anguish you have felt. For an honorable person who diligently takes vows / covenants seriously, walking away can feel like a failure. Furthermore, the church with which you covenanted betrayed your trust. Yet and still, I’m sure that after 8 years, there were individuals in that community with whom you shared genuine fellowship. So hard to quit. Our family walked away from a church almost two years ago of which we were members for 4+ years. And our departure was far from graceful; very clumsy, in fact. I still do not know how you do this kind of thing “well”?? It has taken a few years to sort everything out in our minds and hearts. (We’re now happily in a “mainline” church, but still afraid to commit to membership!)

Be patient with yourself, and most of all, with God. Someone (on JC) commented not to let a sense of commitment to the WHC destroy you and your family. I couldn’t agree more. May God guide you to a community of faith where you can truly belong and thrive. A wise and unselfish friend from my former church told me, “Go in peace.” May God redeem this troubled time for you, and guide you forward.

From your caring JC friend, Susan N.
